91-Year-Old In Peril, Waits For Help
Just after noon on Friday, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a 91-year-old woman had fallen and was hanging halfway off the bed.
Dispatch advised the rescue squad that the door to the home was likely locked. During the next 15 minutes, the caller called back multiple times asking where the rescue squad was. After 20 minutes, Portsmouth Ambulance arrived on the scene and advised dispatch the door was locked. They requested a deputy to attempt entry.
The caller gave permission for forced entry into the home. A deputy then headed to the home to attempt entry, but by that time, a family member had arrived at the scene with a key. They made entry into the home and discovered the elderly woman had gotten her leg stuck under the foot rest of a recliner.
First responders freed the woman.
