Anthony “Tony” Lauro Jr., of Portsmouth, went to be with his Lord and Savior on his 88th birthday, January 8, 2022, at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sandusky in 1934, a son of the late Anthony Francis and Katherine Andrews Lauro.

Tony was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he had served as trustee and was trustee emeritus. A 1952 graduate of Sandusky High School, he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University in 1957 and a Professional Engineer certification in 1963. Tony retired from Aristech as a Project Mechanical Engineer in 1992 and he then went on to work as both the Washington and Noble County Certified Building Official and Master Plans Examiner. Following his retirement from the county positions, Tony continued to work for many years doing commercial and residential building plans, a pursuit he began in 1963. He was a longtime member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Martena Ann Terry Lauro. The couple was married March 5, 1988 in Wheelersburg.
