Catalytic Converter Thief Caught In The Act

A catalytic converter thief was caught in the act by the vehicle’s owner, a fight erupted over spilled booze, and officers responded to three incidents of suicide threats.

Unwanted Guest

Just after 1 am, a man called police to report that someone had gone inside his Kendall Avenue Apartment and locked him out. The man in the apartment had been barred from PMHA property and also had a warrant.

When police arrived, the man said the guy in question had left his apartment. However, police arrested another man with a warrant and took him to jail. Officers impounded several knives and cigarette lighter for safekeeping since the man wasn’t allowed to bring the property to jail.

Lost In The Driveway

A woman called police just after 2 am to report a strange man parked in her driveway. When an officer arrived on the scene, the man was confused and didn’t know where he was.

Officers contacted his family and took him home. Police also arranged for his vehicle to be towed.

Cry For Help?

  • At 3 am, a woman reported her ex as on the phone and threatening suicide. Police said they checked on him last week for the same complaint. The man said he had no thoughts of suicide and refused medical attention.
  • Officers responded to a report a man had threatened to harm himself and everyone else in a Eunice Avenue home just after 4:30 pm. The man said he was not suicidal or homicidal, just frustrated and having a bad day. Police said he appeared okay.
  • At 6:42 pm, officers answered a call for a woman who said she felt like harming herself. An ambulance transported her to SOMC for an overnight evaluation.

Suspicious Behavior

Officers answered a call to the First Stop Market just after 7 am for a report of a man in a black coat and black bandana asking people for money. He was also sleeping on the lot.

Officers told him to move along.

Hey! That’s My Stuff

  • At 8:38 am, a Gallia Street woman reported stolen wedding rings.
  • A Thomas Avenue woman caught two guys in the act of cutting the catalytic converter off her vehicle. She confronted them and they handed something back to her. She wasn’t sure if it was actually the converter. Officers took information for a report.
  • At 5:05 pm, officers responded to a report of a woman stealing items from a collection bin in front of Kroger. They obtained video of the incident and took information for a report.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Market Street at 10:30 am. A man and a woman in the process of breaking up were fighting over shared property.

The man returned the woman’s property to her and she left the premises.

Under The Influence

Just before 11:30 am, a caller reported a possible drug deal on Findlay Street. Officers could not locate the suspects.

Just Sleeping

Officers responded to a request for a welfare check at 11:34 am. A caller was worried because a woman was not answering her cell phone. It turned out the woman was still asleep.

DOA

Shortly before 4 pm, a woman contacted police to request a welfare check on her boyfriend. She had not seen or heard from him since the previous Monday and worried because he has health issues.

Officers went to the 5th Street residence and discovered him deceased. They arranged for animal control to pick up his pets and contacted the coroner.  A funeral home picked up the deceased.

I’m Fine. My Car Is Not

Officers answered a call to Mayo Street for a welfare check just before 8 pm.  A neighbor said she heard the woman next door crying. There were also loud thumping noises coming from her apartment.

The woman told officers she was fine. She was just crying because she’d totaled her car.

Don’t Cry Over Spilled Booze

Officers responded to a disturbance at the Fishbowl on 8th Street at 9:30 pm. A woman caused a disturbance after getting into an argument over spilled alcohol.

Police advised all involved to behave.

Go To Separate Corners

A man called the police at 9:38 pm and complained his live-in boyfriend had been stealing from him. Officers arrived on the scene at 10:30 to find the pair engaged in a verbal dispute.

The pair said they would sleep in separate rooms for the night and break up in the morning.
