The incident happened at Kinneys Land and Baird Avenue just before 2 pm. The worker said they were hit with a BB when unknown subjects fired from a gray Altima.

Crash Closes Road – Driver in Custody

A car smashed into a power pole at 17th and Waller just before 3 am. The owner was at the scene, but claimed she had no idea who was driving. However, witnesses said the woman appeared to be intoxicated.

Officers contacted AEP to repair the pole, and Portsmouth City Services blocked off the road and cleaned up an oil spill from the wreck.

Officers took the woman into custody and arranged for the vehicle to be towed.

Woman Reports Cat-Napping

A Portsmouth woman contacted officers to report that her cat had been missing for seven days and that she’d posted on Facebook about her search.

She said someone contacted her and told her that her father and found the cat and tried to locate the owner with a Facebook post. When they couldn’t find the owner, they took the cat to Sierra’s Haven. The person who messaged claimed the cat had been adopted.

Officers suggested that the woman contact Sierra’s Haven to find out if the cat was taken there and what happened to it. She was advised this was a civil and not a criminal matter.
