Deputies Investigate Report of Abuse of a Disabled Person
Adams County Children Services asked the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to check on the welfare of a 21-year-old disabled individual.
The agency said it received multiple reports that the individual was bruised and expressed concern that their guardian was not taking proper care of them. However, Adams County Children Services no longer had jurisdiction over the individual since they were of age.
Deputies spoke with the individual in question and said they seemed fine and well taken care of. There were no signs of bruising. They contacted Adams County Children Services to give them the good news.

Police did not go into any details about the incident in their log, simply stating that they took information for a report.
Worried Mom Requests Welfare Check
A worried mom in rehab asked officers to look in on her child with autism. She said she hadn’t heard from the child’s father in three weeks and that the child was non-verbal and couldn’t speak on the phone.
She requested officers go to the father’s home for a welfare check.
A deputy spoke to the father, who said he had no idea the mom was in rehab. The officer provided him with her contact information and checked in on the child, who appeared fine. The dad said he had filed for emergency custody of the child.
