Dollar General Bandit Busted – Third Arrest in 3 Months
Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies caught a thief in the act early morning hours of Saturday and it’s not the first time this dude’s been in trouble this year. In fact, it’s his third and he just got out of jail a month ago.
Just before 4:30 am, the Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of alarms going off at the Dollar General on 10073 US 23 in Lucasville, Ohio.
Deputies immediately headed to the scene. The first thing they saw when they got there, they saw a man running away from the store. Deputy Brian Nolen patrolled the area to look for the guy and it didn’t take him long to spot the running man.
Officers took him into custody without a problem. Once the suspect was safely stashed in the back of the cruiser, deputies searched the store building. Their investigation discovered the man got into the store by breaking out a window with a ballast.
Once inside the store, the guy helped himself to $469.16 worth of merchandise. Considering the relatively low prices at a Dollar General, that’s probably a ton of stuff.
They arrested the guy and took him straight to the Scioto County Jail. He’s charged with one count of breaking and entering, a felony of the 5th degree, and possession of criminal tools, a felony of the 5th degree.
Three Time Loser
The Scioto County Sheriff identified the suspect as a McDermott, Ohio man. Brandon Crabtree is 27 years old and this is the third time in the past three months, he’s ended up in jail.
Crabtree was arrested back on May 3 for using weapons while intoxicated and then again on May 21 for the same charge. He pleaded no contest to the charge and Portsmouth Municipal Court sentenced him to 180 days in jail. Most of that sentence was suspended. He spent 27 days in jail after that second arrest and was just released a month ago on June 17.
Crabtree is being held on a $17,500 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, July 19, 2021
