Genevieve Fern Riley, 92, of Otway, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was born September 17, 1930, in Otway, Ohio daughter of the late William Earl Cox and Alice Ross Cox. On February 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to Norman A. “Jack” Riley who preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Karl (Dorothy) Riley of McDermott, Ohio; four daughters, Joyce Wiltshire of West Portsmouth, Ohio, Bonnie (Eldon) Williamson of Waverly, Ohio, Karen (Dave) Diehlmann of McDermott and Judy (Jeff) Puckett of Otway; eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Hannah Cox, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Genevieve was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Dennis Riley and William Earl Riley, a granddaughter, Audra Williamson, a son-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Wiltshire, a brother, Glen Cox, and four sisters, Margaret Luce, Ruby Crabtree, Mildred Miller, and Okie Gilley.
Genevieve was a member of Rarden Baptist Church for 67 years serving as the church treasurer for many years. She loved to garden and had beautiful flowers and also loved carpentry. She was an excellent cook and loved to cook for her family.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway. Burial will follow in Mt. Joy Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
