Jack L. Fannin, 64, of New Boston passed away on February 2, 2023 in his home, while in the very capable hands of Hospice Care and his family.  Jack leaves behind his beloved sisters, Mary Fannin Stewart, Alice Fannin and those loved ones who preceded him in death: his twin brother George Fannin, and his parents Madelyn (Moore) Fannin and those Phillip D. Fannin.  He also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, cousins and the very special friendship with his lifelong friend, Barry Pierce.

Jack was born on January 18, 1959, along with his twin in Munich, Germany.  Jack grew up in New Boston, Ohio.  He attended Stanton Elementary School and graduated from Glenwood High School.  Jack joined the US Air Force where he proudly served his country for 10 years until his honorable discharge on December 15, 1983.  Jack served as an Aircraft Maintenance Technologist, Sergeant and Crew Chief and had been stationed in Florida, Mississippi, and Okinawa.  Later he also served in Desert Storm in Iraq in 1990 – 1991.  After over 20 years of service, Jack then retired from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correctional Facility as a Corrections Officer.

Jack was well known for his kind, quiet manner, his generosity and dry sense of humor.  Everyone who knew him, knew how he especially enjoyed his music (knew entirely and accurately all. Of the words of the songs and artists of Classic 70’s and 80’s Rock); his amazing stereo system; and that he loved reading and running.  Jack will be honored as a Military Veteran at a Celebration of Life Memorial Service which will be held at 4:00 Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
