A pediatric center received Baby Del’Luna Banks after she was found unresponsive with severe head injuries and a fractured skull. The infant died in a hospital after a medical staff attempted to save her.
An admission was made by her father that he shook and threw his 7-week-old daughter to the ground.
According to the Jefferson County Kentucky Coroner’s Office, an autopsy determined that the child’s injuries were caused by the actions Banks described.
At the time of the murder, Courtney Jones (the mother of the infant) was still hospitalized due to complications following delivery.
Banks hurt their child before, according to their 23-year-old mother. She told reporters that she was devastated because she was expecting a long and happy life for herself and her child. Her memories now consist of less than 2 months.
