Portsmouth Police respond to an overdose on the train tracks, a truck hits a house, and a person makes too many 911 calls. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Hey, That’s My Stuff!
At 2:52 pm, Scioto Family Behavioral reported a camera stolen from outside the building. Officers took information for a report.
A Gallia Street caller told police someone took his bank card, took out money, and returned the card. Police took information for a report.
Helping Hand
Portsmouth Police officers helped out a Texas police department just before 4 pm. A detective from Dallas was attempting to contact a fraud victim who resided in Wayne Hills. He asked officers to find the woman and have her call him.
An officer located the woman and stood by while she called the detective.
Too Many Calls
Police say a 4th Street caller has been abusing the 911 system by making constant calls about a variety of bizarre complaints due to some mental health issues
An officer offered to call an ambulance to get the woman some mental health treatment but she refused. The officer warned her not to abuse 911.
Domestic Disturbances
A woman contacted police at 5:30 pm to report that a man assaulted her in her 13th Street apartment when she asked him to leave her home. She said she’d only known the man for a week. He then ran off in the direction of Farley Square. Police took information for a report.
At 6:27 pm, a Robinson Avenue neighbor called police to say a neighbor asked him to contact them because her daughter was acting crazy. The daughter left before the police arrived.
Officer responded to a Grandview Avenue home at 6:38 pm after a woman said a man who was not supposed to be at her house was there. Several units responded and took information for a report.
At 10 pm, a man told police he’d gotten into an argument with his wife and she refused to let him leave the house. By the time police got back to him, he’d already left the scene.
Man Overdoses on Railroad Tracks
At 7 pm, a caller reported that a man had overdosed on the train tracks on 11th Street and was lying on the tracks.
Officers took a man into custody and transported him to jail.
Under the Influence
Just after midnight, police responded to the Woodbine Apartments on Kendall Avenue for a report of an overdose.
The victim had left the scene by the time police arrived.
Pickup Hits House
A dark-colored pickup truck crashed into a Thomas Avenue home and damaged the porch just after 1 am.
Officers discovered there was an open warrant for the driver. They arrested him and arranged to have the vehicle towed.
