Waverly K-9 Officer Gold sniffed out over 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop last Friday. According to Waverly police, an officer conducted a traffic stop just after midnight for a suspected OVI.
The officer observed suspected criminal indicators and brought in K-9 Gold to sniff for narcotics on the exterior of the vehicle. When he alerted to the odor of narcotics, officers conducted a probable-cause search. Police discovered over 30 grams of suspected meth, a loaded 40 caliber handgun, and other drug paraphernalia. This certainly isn’t the intrepid K-9 officer’s first bust. Click the next six slides to see some of his biggest busts and his community activities.
A Very Good Boy
The 8-year-old Belgian Malinois is trained in drug detection, tracking, and searches. He also has his very own Facebook page, chronicling her law enforcement experiences. Back in March, he uncovered marijuana hidden in a Cheetos bag and a stolen handgun during a traffic stop.
Meth & Syringes
On March 13, he sniffed out methamphetamine, syringes, and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop.
Community-Minded
In addition to fighting crime, K-9 Gold enjoys getting out in the community and meeting people. Here, he’s pictured on a visit to the Goodwill Activities and Training Center.
The residents enjoyed meeting K-9 Gold just as much as he enjoyed meeting them.
Merry Blitzmas
K-9 Gold also took part in the Pike County Blitzmas toy drive. He helped collect money and toys last December to make sure kids in need had a merry Christmas.
Cash, Guns, & Drugs
However, his charitable activities did not distract this crime fighter from his duties. He still had time to sniff out a p$16,000 in meth, needles, a stolen, loaded gun, and cash at a traffic stop near Emmitt Avenue.
