PPD – Baby Welfare Check and 18 More Calls

Jumped

Police answered a call to the 14th Street Community Center just after midnight. A caller reported a group of people attempted to jump another group of people. Some of them had bats. Police said no one was there by the time they arrived.

Suspicious Minds

  •  A caller reported a suspicious person checking cars on Sterling Avenue at 1:17 am. By the time officers arrived, no one was there.
  • Just after 8 am, police responded to a report of a man slumped over the wheel of a running vehicle on 6th Street. Police Mirandized both of the men they found in the vehicle.  They also contacted the owner to let him know the vehicle would be towed and impounded.  One man was released at the scene.
  • Around 11 pm, a caller reported a long-haired man tossed a shotgun into a dumpster at Holy Redeemer Church. Police found nothing suspicious in the dumpster.

Missing Meds

A man called police just before 2 am to report stolen medication. He claimed a man named Michael stole his Xanax. He didn’t have enough information to identify the guy.  Police found a guy with the same name in their records. However, the victim said that wasn’t the guy.

The man said he would double-check his apartment to make sure the meds weren’t just misplaced. When officers came back half an hour later to deliver a theft of medication form, the man didn’t answer his doorbell or his phone.

However, he called back at 6 in the morning to report a stolen watch. Police took a report.

Hey That’s My Stuff

  •  Speedway Employees detained a guy just after 4 am for stealing beef jerky. They decided not to prosecute. Police released the suspect to his mother.
  • A Grandview Avenue caller reported a tire and brand new jack were stolen from a backyard. Police took a report.

Stuck In Traffic

Someone left a Black Suburban just sitting on the overpass in Sciotoville just after 10 am. Two tires were flat and there were no keys in the car. Police called for a tow and impounded the vehicle.

Shaking A Stick At It

The aggressive Gallia Street panhandler was at it again just before 11 am. He showed up at Speedway, dressed in a red-hooded coat. An employee reported he attempted to bum money from people and was shaking a stick at them.

Baby in Danger?

Police assisted a CPS worker just around noon. He told police he drove by a 6th Street home and the parents ran inside.  A source reported to CPS that the woman was using and was there to check on the safety of the child.

Garbage Truck Scuffle

A scuffle between a city garbage truck worker and a  Michigan Avenue resident, brought officers to the city garage to take a report at 1 pm.

Kendall Avenue Confidential

Officer assisted an ambulance crew on a call to the Royal Inn on Kendall Avenue. First responders feared a suicidal man might be combative.

Police got a key from the manager to enter the room when the guy didn’t answer the door. He was cooperative once first responders got inside. An ambulance transported him to the hospital.

Dude, Where’s My Car?

At 1:38 pm, an Argonne Road woman reported her boyfriend took off with her vehicle without permission. Police took a report.

Bad Checks

Officers responded to the Scioto Shoe Mart for a report of bad checks at 2:18 pm. Turns out the same person wrote two rubber checks. One was for $1,000 and the other for $200. Police took a report.

Family Feud

Police answered an active domestic call at 2:30 pm. They ended up arresting a man on Mayo Street.

Lost And Found

Officers were called to Hudson House after a man found a small plaid bag with an ID and costume jewelry inside. Police impounded for safekeeping until the owner is located.

Really, We’re Fine

  • A caller reported an apparently high shirtless man on Kendall Avenue at 7:30 pm. Police caught up with him in the Aldi lot. He seemed fine.
  • Fifteen minutes later a caller reported a woman stumbling around Grant Street pulling a child in a wagon. She seemed fine to officers when they investigated.
