Puppy Confiscated From Fugitives: Portsmouth Police Reports
Portsmouth Police confiscated a puppy from fugitives and investigated a report of a man with a gun on Summit Street. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Man With A Gun
A Summit Street Caller told police an angry man was pounding on his door and he feared the man might have a gun.
Police caught up with the guy across from the 17th Street Armory. The incident started in Wayne Hills the night before and the Summit Street caller claimed the man threatened to shoot him.
The man said he just knocked on the door to deal with their issues. Police advised both parties to behave.
Panhandling Problems
Officers were called to 12th and Gay Street for a report of homeless men in the road bumming money. Witnesses said they nearly caused a crash. Police advised the two men to stay out of the road.
Identity Theft
A man called the police at 1 pm to complain that someone used his wife’s Social Security number to file a fraudulent unemployment claim.
Woman In Distress
At 1 pm, a witness reported a woman stumbling around, walking into traffic, and falling on Robinson Avenue near Goodwill.
The woman was so agitated that EMS personnel had to strap her down and were unable to calm her down with medication.
She had an open warrant with the Sheriff’s Office and was taken to the Scioto County Jail and booked.
Under The Influence
A Gallia Street caller reported a drunken man with a beard passed out on the porch of a condemned house. Police took the man into custody.
An employee of Mary’s Spirit Shoop reported a woman lying in the alley behind the business. Police advised her to move along.
Bomb Scare
A Highland Avenue woman contacted police after she discovered what she believed to be a pipe bomb on her property.
Police said it was a solid metal weight and not a bomb of any kind.
Suspicious Activity
- A Campbell Street caller contacted police just before 2 am to report that someone was following her. She said she planned to go to a friend’s house to get in for the night.
- Officers responded to a report of someone lying down near Kroger making strange noises under the awning. The man told the police he was having a panic attack.
Hot Pursuit
An officer was investigating a stolen vehicle on 3rd Street when a man and woman took off running towards 4th Street.
Police managed to catch up with the pair and took them both into custody as well as a puppy they had with them. The vehicle was impounded and Animal Control was notified about the puppy.
