Roy Lee Stevens, 70, of Wheelersburg went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2020, after an extended illness. He was born August 15, 1950, in Portsmouth to Mabel and George Stevens and graduated in 1969 from Portsmouth High School. He was an ARMY Veteran and served his country as a Military Police officer during the Vietnam war. He was very proud to be a Veteran and to have served his country and wore his “Vietnam Veteran” hat everywhere he went. After being honorably discharged from the ARMY in 1971, he continued his service to his community and the government by first working as a Portsmouth Deputy Sheriff before being hired at the A-Plant in 1976 where he worked as a guard until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting items such as arrowheads, coins, and baseball cards and was an avid Steelers fan. He gave his heart to God in 1980 and his faith was unwavering until his death. He was especially proud of the opportunities he had to preach and lead others to the Lord.
He married the love of his life, Diana, on January 23, 1970, and she was by his side until his death. Their love for one another was unbreakable and they enjoyed having coffee, bible study, and prayer together each morning. He was a dedicated and loving father to his four children and cherished his six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a kind and outgoing person who could talk to anyone, had many friends, and had an infectious laugh to accompany his quick wit.
He is survived by his wife, Diana, and their four children, Dr. Wendi (Jon) Dunham, Tim Stevens, Buffi Lambojon, and Kelli Lee. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Marcus) Branch, KayLee (Megan) Sharp, Spenser Dunham, Timmy Stevens, Danneth Stevens, and Diana Lee and one great-grandchild, Adania Branch.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, three brothers and one sister. He was also preceded in death by his longtime childhood friend, Hughie Blair.
