PPD dealt with several calls involving teens and a dog attack on 29th Street. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing
The Party’s Over
Just before 2 am, a Highland Avenue caller reported a loud party near Highland and McConnel. The caller complained of noise and partygoers blocking the street.
An officer spoke with the homeowner and advised her to keep down the noise and have people move their vehicles.
Police also took a 17-year-old into custody and returned her to her guardian.
Drunk and Disorderly
At 2:46 am, police responded to Richard Noggins for a report of two men fighting on the sidewalk.
Officers took the two guys to the Holiday Inn to release them to a sober friend who promised to keep an eye on them.
Missing Teen
A worried mom called the police at 10:15 am to report her 15-year-old son had run away.
Police obtained a photo of the boy and began their search. They visited homes on Hutchings and Grandview in an attempt to find the boy but were unable to locate him.
An hour and a half later, the mom contacted the police to report the boy had returned home on his own.
Unsafe on the Grant Bridge
At 12:42 pm, a c witness reported someone outside of the railing midway across the US Grand Bridge. Officers discovered three girls taking pictures.
Police advised them about bridge safety.
Under the Influence
A caller from Kroger reported a woman sitting on the floor near the service desk who kept nodding in and out. Eventually, the woman got up and left the store.
At 2 pm, a Gallia Street caller reported an apparently high man falling on the ground next to a white Volkswagen Beetle. Police took the man into custody and impounded the car.
EMS and Police responded to a 6th Street home when a woman was discovered unconscious and not breathing on the bathroom floor. She was awake by the time police arrived and refused treatment.
Grand Theft Auto
A Mabert Road resident contacted police just after 3 pm to report a vehicle stolen from their home. Police took information for a report.
Runaway Girl
A teen girl went missing around 5:30 pm but eventually turned up at her father’s home on Mabert Road.
Police advised the mother where the girl was. Mom said she planned to go to court to deal with her unruly daughter.
29th Street Dog Attack
A woman contacted police just after 8 pm to report that a neighborhood dog had attacked her dog. Police noted that the woman’s dog did have some injuries.
A neighbor reported that her dog had slipped out the door when she wasn’t watching but she would try to do better in the future. Officers said neither animal appeared aggressive and took a report for Animal Control.
