Woman Fears Homeless People Being Trafficked
A Norway Road resident contacted police about a suspicious man walking up and down the road. She said he was staying in an old barn and feared he was involved in human trafficking.
She reported multiple homeless men and women walking up and down the street all day long. She feared they were all being trafficked as they were staying in the woods nearby.
She asked officers to tell the homeless people not to walk up and down the street. Officers informed her they could not do that.
Caller Reports Man Lying on Ground at Portsmouth Skate Park
Just after 9 pm, Portsmouth Police Officers headed to Portsmouth Skate Park after a caller spotted a man lying outside of a black Chevy.
When police spoke to the man, he explained that he was homeless and living in his vehicle. He said he was cleaning the vehicle, and that’s why he was down on the ground.
Camping Out at Long John Silvers
Just after 4 pm, a caller reported a shirtless man on the corner near Long John Silvers. The man had a guitar with him and had spread his clothing out all over the lot of the restaurant.
An officer spoke to the man and said he seemed fine. He was advised to move along.
Sleeping on the Streets
Just before 4 pm, a caller reported a man lying in a yard next to a dog on 7th Street. When officers spoke to the man, they discovered he was sleeping outside. Police warned him he could be cited for drunk and disorderly conduct. He went into the house to nap.
A Spring Lane caller contacted police to report a strange man had ridden a bike by their home several times that day. At one point, the man appeared to be using drugs. He was not lying down in the grass under some trees.
Officers spoke to the man and said he seemed okay. They advised him to leave the area, and he complied.
